New Book: WILD WEST HERO

Wild West Hero launches today. The book has been uploaded to Amazon and will go live in world wide territories over the weekend.

I have loved writing this book and creating the characters of Eddie, Hank and Sandro. I've mentioned before how much I love Spaghetti westerns and the hot Italian actors of the 1960s so incorporating this world into an erotic story has been an absolute blast.

The book is novella length. 29,000 words - around 100 printed pages. The prefect length for this kind of fiction - like a torrid holiday affair.

The final cover art, pictured below, is a simpler, more refined version of the cover I posted here a few weeks back. I think this new version works better, bringing Eddie up close.

1969. A cast of handsome actors gather in Spain to film an action packed spaghetti western. For newcomer Eddie Drake, it’s the chance of a life time. After an undistinguished career in television, he’s finally landed a lead role in a movie. Eddie’s modern good looks perfectly represent the new breed of wild west hero. His agent confidently predicts he could be the next Clint Eastwood.

For Hank Kinney the movie marks a depressing career low. He’s been a leading man in some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters for over twenty years. But now he’s reduced to making low budget European trash. It’s a come down too far.

Eddie idolised Hank when he was growing up but barely recognises this bitter hell raiser as the idol of his teens. Hank still possesses the matinee idol good looks that made him a star, but alcohol and regret have made him an angry, difficult figure. Eddie’s focus is on the film. He can’t get sidetracked by Hank’s messy emotions, no matter how hot he finds him. He already has the distraction of Sandro, his sexy Italian co-star. Young, ballsy and damned near insatiable – Sandro is a full time stud.

Under blazing heat and the tension of a tight schedule, tempers and passion runs high. Behind the scenes, the ride is wilder than anything the film makers could bring to the screen.

Other news. I'm working towards the paper back collection of my four novellas. Formatting for print is entirely different to formatting for ebook, so it's taking a little more time than usual, but so far it seems to be going well. Now that Wild West Hero is finished and out there I can get the full manuscript ready for its print run. I don't want to commit myself to a publication date until all the work is complete and I've proofed a preview copy. I'm optimistically aiming for an April 2014 release date.

My third short story collection is also progressing. The thing I love about shorter work is the opportunity to experiment and try something different with every tale, so far I've got a range of scenrios and characters including exhibitionists, high class escorts, cheap hustlers, college boys, gym boys, bears and daddies. There's no publication date for this yet but it's likely to be sometime in the autumn.

So that's it. Wild West Hero is out there. Enjoy

MY WILD WEST HEROS

My new ebook is all set for publication next week - 21st February. All of the hard work is done and the manuscript has been proofed and formatted ready for launch. Just one last proof read remaining and it'll be good to go.

As the book is set in 1969 on the set of a spaghetti western, I thought I'd dedicate this weeks update to the handsome men of those 1960s Italian cowboy pictures. The kind of men who inspired this book. My own wild west hero’s.

FRANCO NERO

Top of the list. My absolute favourite. Clint Eastwood might be the most famous but Franco was by far the sexiest of the spaghetti studs to put on a pair of dusty chaps.

Born in Parma, Italy, Franco's acting career has covered just about every genre from western, thrillers to musicals. But he'll always be remembered as the original and best actor to take on the legendary role of Django (1966). I fell in love the first time I saw his stunning blue eyes stare out from beneath the rim of his cowboy hat.

TERRENCE HILL

Terrence was the second actor to take on the role of Django in Django Prepare a Coffin (1967). Cast because of his remarkable resemblance to Franco Nero, Terrence certain had the looks and the piercing eyes to follow Nero's hunky original.

GEORGE HILTON

Originally from Uruguay, George's Latin good looks made him a natural for the European film scene of the 1960's. He made his spaghetti western début in 1966 with Franco Nero in the movie Massacre Time – two hot studs for the price of one.

GEORGE EASTMAN

Italian native, George Eastman was a giant at 6ft 9in. His huge frame often him saw him cast as villains and henchman, notably in Django Prepare a Coffin with the dishy Terrence Hill.

As the above post shows I love spaghetti westerns and the macho men who stared in them. The four hunks above are nothing but the tip of the iceberg. Check out some of the trailers on youtube and see if you can find some favourites of your own.
